Self statement
I have been practicing clinical social work for over 20 plus years. My experience is with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have practiced both intense and brief clinical therapy. I have worked in a variety of setting to include residential care for distressed adolescents, an outpatient mental health clinic, with victims of criminal acts, in a clinical day program for children and adolescents, and at a pediatric hospital where I spent the majority of my time in an outpatient setting.
I am a certified clinical trauma professional Level II, certified child and adolescent trauma professional and Certified in EMDR. All of these help to treat and manage complex trauma and complex grief disorders and related issues in highly effective ways that restore daily functioning.
I also am Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist, and have certificates in complicated grief, grief and loss across the lifespan, and treating and preventing suicide. I have experience working with many diagnoses, however, due to all of my past clinical experience and training, I am specializing and making the focus of my practice in treatment on trauma, grief and complicated grief solely.
Additionally, I have significant experience in working with the families of children with special needs, and helping them navigate the very complicated layers with the the medical, academic, social welfare, and social systems.
I am dedicated to helping those who have experienced trauma, whether it be a single incident, episodic trauma or chronic trauma, and help guide them on their path to healing and recovery. As well as, being dedicated to the recovery process for those who have survived a loss or multiple losses and are experiencing complications that impact their ability to heal and move forward. There is a special place in my heart for children with special needs and helping their families and the children with the multitude of issues they face.
I have provided supervision to those seeking independent licensure and served as a field liaison to both graduate and undergraduate students.
